Measured Ability is currently seeking a reliable and skilled Machine Operator / Wrapper to join our team in the eThekwini Central area, covering Durban, Pinetown, and Umlazi. Key Responsibilities
As a Machine Operator / Wrapper, you will be responsible for the seamless operation of production equipment to ensure we meet our daily targets. Your daily duties will include:
- Setting up, operating, and monitoring production machinery.
- Performing formal machine start-up and shut-down procedures.
- Adjusting machine settings to ensure optimal output and efficiency.
- Conducting routine equipment checks and basic preventative maintenance.
- Identifying and reporting any mechanical faults or production issues promptly.
- Wrapping and packaging finished goods according to strict company quality standards.
- Inspecting products for quality defects prior to the final packaging stage.
- Labeling finished goods and preparing them for the dispatch process.
- Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe packaging station.
- Ensuring correct product quantities are processed according to specifications.
- Adhering to all food safety, hygiene, and HACCP protocols, as well as general company health and safety regulations.
Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this position, you must be a proactive worker who can handle the physical demands of a manufacturing floor. Candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Matric (Grade 12) qualification.
- At least 2 years of proven experience operating production or manufacturing machinery.
- Previous experience in wrapping or packaging products is essential.
- Prior experience in the food manufacturing or FMCG sector will be considered a distinct advantage.
- A solid understanding of industrial production processes.
- The ability to operate machinery safely and efficiently at all times.
- Physical fitness, with the stamina to stand for long periods throughout your shift.
- Flexibility to work rotating shifts, including weekends and overtime as required by production schedules.
