Residence Manager | Student Accommodation
Measured Ability is seeking a dedicated and experienced professional to step into the role of Residence Manager | Student Accommodation. Based in Cape Town, covering our properties from Camps Bay to Maitland, you will be responsible for leading the daily operations of our residence to ensure a safe, compliant, and well-maintained environment for all our residents.
Key Responsibilities
As our Residence Manager, you will be the driving force behind the seamless operation of the facility. Your primary duties will include:
- Operational Leadership: Managing the day-to-day residence functions and ensuring high standards of safety and maintenance.
- Team Management: Overseeing and developing the residence staff, including the Assistant Residence Manager and maintenance personnel.
- Facilities Oversight: Coordinating all repairs, routine inspections, and the performance of external contractors and service providers.
- Student Relations: Serving as the primary point of contact for student affairs, resolving complaints, managing incidents, and supporting the student journey from check-in to check-out.
- Strategic Administration: Assisting with budgetary planning, compliance reporting, and stakeholder management, while proactively identifying ways to enhance the student experience.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you must possess a proven track record in facilities and people management:
- Experience: A minimum of 6 years of relevant experience, with at least 4 years specifically in a supervisory or management capacity.
- Industry Knowledge: Previous experience within the student accommodation sector is essential.
- Qualifications: A Matric/Grade 12 certificate combined with a relevant qualification in Property Management, Facilities Management, Building Management, or a related field.
- Technical Skills: A robust understanding of property operations, combined with proficiency in MS Office and operational management systems.
- Core Competencies: Strong leadership, clear communication, exceptional organizational skills, and a solution-oriented mindset.
- Availability: You must be willing to live on-site to effectively manage the residence.
