Experienced Engineering Underwriter Opportunity
Measured Ability is seeking a detail-oriented and technically proficient Engineering Underwriter to join our team in the East Rand/Bedford View/Germiston/Isando area. In this role, you will be responsible for evaluating complex risks and maintaining high standards of underwriting integrity within the engineering insurance sector.
Key Responsibilities of the Engineering Underwriter
As an integral part of our underwriting division, you will manage the lifecycle of engineering insurance policies. Your daily responsibilities will include:
- Conducting thorough risk assessments for both new business acquisitions and renewals.
- Setting precise terms and conditions for policies based on rigorous technical evaluations.
- Actively building and nurturing long-term relationships with brokers and corporate clients.
- Analyzing and developing engineering risk portfolios to support business growth and profitability.
Requirements and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you must possess a blend of technical engineering knowledge and sound underwriting judgment. The ideal candidate will meet the following criteria:
- A BSc in Civil Engineering is required.
- At least 5 years of proven experience working within an insurer or as an Underwriting Manager.
- A deep understanding of engineering risks, construction contracts, building codes, and machinery.
- Familiarity with FAIS (Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services) requirements.
- Candidates must hold or be fully committed to studying for the necessary Regulatory Exams (RE1/RE5).
Location and Logistics
