We are currently looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Engineering Claims Handler to join our team in the Western Cape, specifically serving the Durbanville, Kraaifontein, and Brackenfell areas. If you have a solid background in short-term insurance and a technical aptitude for construction and engineering sectors, this role offers an excellent opportunity to manage complex claims processes.
Core Responsibilities
As an Engineering Claims Handler, you will oversee the complete lifecycle of a claim, starting from the First Notification of Loss (FNOL) through to final settlement. Your daily duties will include:
- Managing the end-to-end claims process with precision and efficiency.
- Appointing and coordinating with loss adjusters, assessors, and various technical experts to ensure accurate assessments.
- Negotiating repair costs or replacement values directly with contractors and suppliers.
- Maintaining strict regulatory compliance across all interactions, with a focus on FICA and POPIA requirements.
Requirements and Qualifications
To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years of proven experience in short-term insurance, with a specific focus on commercial or engineering claims.
- A Grade 12 (Matric) certificate is essential.
- Must hold a relevant NQF Level 5 qualification in insurance or finance.
- Successful completion of the RE5 examination (Level 1).
- A solid understanding of engineering principles, policy coverage, and construction-related sectors.
- High proficiency in MS Office (specifically Excel and Outlook) and prior experience working with industry-standard claims management systems.
