Professional Bookkeeper Opportunity at Measured Ability
Measured Ability is currently recruiting a detail-oriented and experienced Bookkeeper to join our client in the Eastern Cape, specifically serving the East London and King William’s Town areas. We are looking for a financial professional who is comfortable managing a diverse range of accounting functions, including reconciliations, payroll support, month-end processes, and general financial administration. While prior exposure to articles is considered an advantage, it is not a strict requirement for this role.
Minimum Qualifications
- Matric certificate.
- A tertiary qualification in Accounting or Finance is highly advantageous.
- A BCom degree or National Diploma in Finance is preferred.
Experience and Requirements
- At least 3 years of proven experience in a bookkeeping role.
- Practical, hands-on experience using Microsoft Great Plains.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, with a specific focus on Microsoft Excel.
- Strong technical understanding of cashbook functions and journal entries.
- The ability to accurately interpret and analyze Balance Sheets and Income Statements.
- Extensive experience performing complex account reconciliations.
Key Responsibilities
Cashbook and Banking
- Prepare and review daily exception reports.
- Manage cashbook capturing, post transactions, and finalize bank reconciliations.
- Oversee petty cash expenses, post batches, and reconcile accordingly.
- Handle the release of online payments, manage creditor EFT payments, and process debtor payments.
Creditors and Reconciliations
- Verify and authorize creditors’ reconciliations prior to payment.
- Conduct general ledger and various financial reconciliations throughout the month and during month-end.
- Ensure all financial data is accurate, complete, and maintained to a high standard.
Payroll
- Process management payroll and review salary and wage payrolls for accuracy.
- Reconcile payroll information and manage online retirement fund withdrawals.
Month-End and Financial Administration
- Execute core month-end accounting tasks.
- Support the finance department with daily sales processing and the annual budgeting cycle.
- Provide ongoing general administrative support to the team.
Stock Control
- Participate in stock takes and manage the associated financial reconciliations.
- Ensure all stock-related financial data is accurate and correctly recorded.
General Duties
- Provide departmental relief and support as needed.
- Coordinate the ordering and distribution of office stationery.
- Assist with ad-hoc IT-related tasks and support the Financial Manager with various administrative assignments.
