Production Manager – Waste & Recycling
Stratogo is looking for a driven and experienced professional to join our client’s team in Parow as a Production Manager – Waste & Recycling. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on leader to oversee the daily operations, production processes, and site performance of an established waste management and recycling facility.

About the Role
As the Production Manager – Waste & Recycling, you will take ownership of the day-to-day operational performance of the site. Your goal is to ensure that all production targets are met efficiently while driving continuous improvement and cost-effectiveness. We are seeking a proactive manager who is comfortable on the floor and skilled at leading operational teams in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Production & Operations Management
- Oversee daily production cycles to ensure volume targets and deadlines are achieved.
- Monitor workflows to identify bottlenecks and implement corrective actions.
- Manage the efficient sorting, processing, and handling of recyclable materials.
- Minimize downtime and ensure all operational procedures are consistently applied.
People Management
- Lead and mentor production staff, including supervisors and operational personnel.
- Allocate labor effectively based on site demands.
- Monitor performance, attendance, and productivity levels.
- Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and professional development.
- Manage disciplinary processes in alignment with company policy.
Waste & Recycling Operations
- Monitor material recovery rates and implement strategies to reduce waste.
- Ensure all processed materials meet strict quality standards.
- Manage contamination levels and oversee the proper handling and storage of recyclables.
Equipment & Maintenance
- Ensure all facility equipment is functioning correctly and operated safely.
- Coordinate with maintenance teams to ensure preventative maintenance is completed on schedule.
- Identify recurring equipment issues and implement long-term solutions.
Health, Safety & Environmental
- Drive a strong safety culture and ensure full compliance with all environmental and safety regulations.
- Conduct regular site inspections and ensure hazards are addressed immediately.
- Enforce the use of appropriate PPE and maintain high standards of facility housekeeping.
- Investigate workplace incidents and implement necessary corrective actions.
Cost & Performance Management
- Manage operational resources to minimize costs and maximize efficiency.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and report on volumes, recovery rates, and downtime.
Minimum Requirements
- 5–8 years of experience in a Production or Operations Management role.
- Experience in the waste management or recycling sector is highly advantageous.
- A relevant qualification in Operations Management, Production Management, Engineering, Supply Chain, Logistics, or Waste Management is preferred.
- Proven track record of managing operational teams in high-pressure environments.
- Strong understanding of industrial efficiency, KPI tracking, and operational reporting.
- Proficiency in MS Office.
- A valid driver’s license is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality) standards.
